What Stick Does Roman Josi Use?
Josi started his professional career playing in his Hometown for SC Bern and has had a dominant career ever since as he is in the middle of his 14th NHL season. Josi has had 10 NHL playoff appearances over his career which is quite impressive, all with the same team. Josi came close to eclipsing the 100 point mark as a defensemen in the 2021-22 season, finishing with 96 points.
Now into the good stuff - Josi has been a CCM guy for his whole career, with a few glimpses early on using Reebok and Easton sticks. Like a true defensemen he has stuck with the mid or hybrid kick point lines that CCM offers, with this stick being a Jetspeed FT5. Understandably, Josi uses a stiff 95 flex on a 64” shaft supporting his 6’1” 200lb frame. His stick boasts a custom curve characterized by a notably open face and a decent toe hook—a surprising choice for a defenseman, yet not entirely unprecedented. The curve bears a striking resemblance to the P28, evident in its openness and toe hook, also with a distinctive toe kink reminiscent of the P90T curve, though it's easier to see that in person. Notably, Josi favors a max blade, a preference commonly shared among defensemen.
