What Stick Does Wayne Simmonds Use?
Wayne Simmonds, out of Scarborough ON, announced his retirement last year and signed a one day contract in Philly to retire where he played the majority of his career. An NHL All-Star and MVP, Simmonds was not only a gritty player that never feared a scrum he was also able to produce points, with a career high 60 points and 32 goals. Simmonds entered the league with LA but really found his groove in Philadelphia where he had multiple 30+ goal seasons and numerous 25+ goal campaigns. Simmonds signed as a free agent in Toronto where he played his 1000th game hoping to close out his career with a Stanley cup, but it wasn’t quite the time or city.
We’ve spec checked Simmonds on here before but with his Warriors. He switched back to Bauer right around the time he came to Toronto but kept most of his specs the same using the tried and true P28 with a stiff flex at stock height despite standing at 6’2”. He did go from a Mid Kick Alpha line to these low Kick Vapors which is an interesting jump. Also being seen with an Ultrasonic during his Toronto days we’re not sure if that was the actual build or if he indeed fell in love with Vapors.
Simmonds played 15 NHL seasons and is a very energetic player to watch who has had a big part in growing both the diversity of the game and the game itself. He is part of the Hockey Diversity Alliance and also helped create a ball hockey tournament in his hometown with the intentions of getting local children interested in playing the sport.
